In the petition and documents sent to the Hanoi People’s Court, Sconnect accused EO of illegally using the Wolfoo trademark in Peppa Pig videos – a violation of point b, clause 1, Article 129 of the Intellectual Property Law.
Previously, at the end of March 2022, Sconnect filed an application with the Vietnam National Competition Commission to complain about EO’s unfair competition practices, violating Clauses 3 and 4, Article 45 of the Competition Law.
Sconnect representative said that in September 2022 Sconnect continued to file a lawsuit against EO with the Hanoi People’s Court for impersonating the owner of the cartoon Wolfoo and using technical measures to illegally block ownership rights.
Peppa Pig’s `father` lost his lawsuit in Russia
According to information from Sconnect, EO is the business that sparked the intellectual property rights dispute between Wolfoo and Peppa Pig and had to admit defeat in Russia.
Specifically, on January 11, 2022, EO filed a lawsuit in Moscow court accusing the Wolfoo character set of being a remake of the Peppa Pig character set.
During the process of participating in the proceedings in Russia, Sconnect presented evidence and legal documents proving intellectual property rights for the Wolfoo character and cartoon product.
