The September 2 holiday is approaching and the journey to conquer Y Ty to hunt for clouds and ripe rice is the focus of many backpacking groups.
Go night
To save energy and time on the way back, you should take a sleeper bus or night train.
Day 1: Ha Khau – A Lu – Y Ty
Get off the bus at 5am, rent a car and have breakfast.
Day itinerary:
– Visit Lung Po – where the upper reaches of the Red River flows into Vietnam – landmark 92 Lung Po.
– Visit rice fields in A Lu and Ngai Thau (on the way to Y Ty): You will admire the breathtakingly beautiful picture in the most beautiful rice valley in Y Ty.
– And to Y Ty: After checking in with the border guard, you will visit the site of Thien Sinh bridge, Hong Ngai village, where the mountain fissure is taken as a natural dividing line of the Vietnam – China border.
Overnight stay: You should contact to book a place to stay on Y Ty high mountain, you will have the opportunity to watch the stars at night and wake up in the morning to `hunt` clouds.
Day 2: Muong Hum – Nam Pung – Kin Chu Phin
Morning: Get up early to hunt clouds in Y Ty.
Rice in Muong Hum, Bat Xat, Lao Cai.
Afternoon: Go to Kin Chu Phin village, visit the unique mushroom houses in the Ha Nhi village.
Day 3: O Quy Ho – Silver Waterfall (or Seo My Ty) – Sa Pa
Morning: Depending on the weather and health, you can spend the whole morning to visit Seo My Ty Lake, the highest lake in Indochina at an altitude of 2,300 m, a dream place for many backpackers because of its difficult terrain and bad weather.
Viewed from the cloud yard, the road to O Quy Ho pass looks like a zigzag silk strip, the road to Heaven’s Gate at an altitude of nearly 2,000m.
Afternoon: Visit ripe rice in Cat Cat village, Ta Van.
Night comes
At 9pm on Tuesday, stand in front of Lao Cai station gate to catch a bus or train, and arrive in Hanoi around 4am.
Specialties you should try
Pork, chayote, salmon hotpot, grilled food, thang co… You should visit Sapa barbecue street, near the Church to enjoy.
It’s cold at night, sitting and sipping grilled food chatting with friends, there’s nothing like the warm feeling.
Meal price: If traveling in a group, the group leaders will usually reserve a dining table for the whole group in certain places.
Total cost for the trip
All travel costs, meals, sightseeing fees, motels, car rentals… for the 3-day, 4-night trip to Lao Cai – Sa Pa on September 2 are usually more expensive than usual, about 1,300 VND.
Note
– On the occasion of September 2, the trip to the Northwest is very crowded, you need to pay attention to safe transportation and avoid traveling at night.
– September 2nd in the North often rains, you need to prepare raincoats and necessary rain gear.
– It is a prime route, the schedule is thick and quite strenuous, so you need to be mentally and physically prepared to flexibly deal with slippery and muddy roads…
