Married in 2011, without any good news, Le Thi Ngoc Mai (38 years old, Hoc Mon) and her husband went for a reproductive health check-up but the doctor concluded that both were completely normal.
Once there was good news, but no matter how carefully Ms. Mai cherished it, she couldn’t keep the baby.
In early October 2021, they regained their composure and went to the Reproductive Support Center of Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City (IVFTA-HCM) for treatment advice.
Ms. Mai’s family was happy when picking up her child at Tam Anh General Hospital.
MSc. Dr. Giang Huynh Nhu said that Ms. Mai has endometriosis and a history of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, causing abdominal fluid.
To find the cause of implantation failure after multiple embryo transfers, Dr. Nhu prescribed a diagnostic hysteroscopy for Ms. Mai.
During previous treatments, even though the mucosa was only 7mm, the doctor did not intervene and still decided to transfer the embryo.
She was supported with autologous platelet-rich plasma injection technique to increase her chances of conceiving.
Having completed the beautiful mucosal layer, Ms. Mai anxiously waited for the day of embryo transfer.
The baby girl was born after 10 years of infertility treatment for Mai and her husband.
On the 5th day of Tet, she and her husband went to the hospital and anxiously waited for the blood test results.
`I still clearly remember the radiant, happy faces of Ms. Mai and her husband like spring flowers when the doctor told them the good news. Spring came late, but for them this will always be the most beautiful spring,` said Dr. Giang Huynh Nhu.
Both husband and wife did not dare share the news of pregnancy with their family.
Having a child is a miracle, keeping a child is a journey
At the age of about 40, with a history of 4 failed IVF cycles, plus thin mucous membranes and endometriosis, Ms. Mai was assessed by her doctor as having a high-risk pregnancy.
The resilient baby clings firmly in the mother’s womb until the day it is safely born.
Just like what the doctor was worried about, when she was 6 weeks pregnant, she had vaginal bleeding.
At 26 weeks of pregnancy, she was discovered to have gestational diabetes.
In the days nearing the end of her pregnancy, Mai felt heavy and exhausted.
On October 5, Ms. Mai burst into tears when her baby girl weighing 3.9 kg was born, crying loudly in the operating room.
`The appearance of my baby has opened up a new journey for me in motherhood. The talent and medical ethics of the team of doctors have helped my family’s life turn to a new page, full of laughter.`
