Ten Hag: 'Ronaldo didn't say anything when he left first' 2
When asked about Ronaldo’s actions, coach Erik Ten Hag said CR7 did not say anything to him.
Former striker Alan Shearer expressed sympathy for Ten Hag.
Ronaldo was unhappy when he sat on the bench in the match against Tottenham at Old Trafford on the evening of October 19.
Ronaldo had to be on the bench after starting two consecutive matches, giving up the central striker position to Marcus Rashford.
Speaking before kick-off about the reason for leaving Ronaldo on the bench, Ten Hag said: `The starting lineup I chose has the best chance of winning, and we have also prepared a plan. Ronaldo is important and will come on the field.`
After Ten Hag made his second substitution in the 87th minute, Ronaldo began to leave when he was not used.
When asked about Ronaldo’s actions, midfielder Lisandro Martinez said: `I didn’t see anything, I don’t know anything about it. I just focused on the match. The important thing is that Man Utd won.`
This is not the first time Ronaldo has caused trouble at Man Utd, since returning to Old Trafford in the summer of 2021. In March 2022, he received notice that he would not play in the Manchester derby.
In the summer of 2022, Ronaldo continuously missed his first training sessions with Man Utd, citing `family reasons`.
Missing three weeks of preparation for the new season, Ronaldo had physical problems leading to the first seven matches without scoring or assisting.
Man Utd will play another key match with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 22.
