The Weibo page of the Chinese army’s Tibet Command on September 14 published a video of a joint exercise between the army and air force `at an average altitude of 5,000 m` to train combat readiness at high altitudes.
Chinese state media said this was the first joint exercise between air and ground forces in such plateau terrain.
During the exercise, army soldiers launched attacks with aerial fire support from fighters to gain control of bases controlled by the enemy.
In a more than two-minute video released by the Tibet Command, the army’s reconnaissance unit uses unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to identify and report target coordinates.

Type-11 122 mm rocket artillery complexes and PZL-89 self-propelled guns then shelled the target, while J-16 multi-role fighters circled the area and launched missiles at the target.
The video also shows air defense and anti-tank units using anti-aircraft missiles and anti-tank missiles to destroy enemy aircraft, armor and fortifications.
Chinese engineering soldiers cleared obstacles, marked paths and built makeshift bridges.
The location of China’s Tibetan plateau is close to the Indian border.
The video of the exercise in Tibet was released two days after the Chinese military released five Indian citizens accused of being spies after being reported missing in early September.
India-China border tensions show signs of cooling down after the talks between Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Moscow on September 10.
India and China have clashed many times since late April and early May, culminating in a deadly brawl on June 15 in the Galwan valley.
