Urinary incontinence or urinary incontinence is a common problem in postmenopausal women who have given birth.
Dr. Le Phuc Lien, Head of the Female Urology Unit, Center for Urology – Nephrology – Andrology, Tam Anh General Hospital, Ho Chi Minh City, said that urinary incontinence in women can be treated with these methods.
Using medication: Medications to treat urinary incontinence help relax bladder spasms, improve the bladder’s ability to hold urine, and limit uncontrolled urine leakage.
Tibial nerve stimulation: The doctor places one electrode in the ankle area, one electrode in the sole of the patient’s foot, where the tibial nerve is located.
Doctor Phuc Lien, Head of the Female Urology Unit, Center for Urology – Nephrology – Andrology, advises female patients.
Biofeedback therapy with a pelvic floor exerciser: The doctor attaches two electrodes to the abdominal muscles and a probe placed into the patient’s vagina or anus and then asks to perform pelvic floor exercises (kegel).
Botox injection: The doctor inserts a device through the urethra to inject botulinum toxin (botox) into the bladder spasm muscle.
Urethral lift mesh surgery: This is a common method of treating stress urinary incontinence (sneezing, coughing, laughing loudly, lifting heavy objects, playing sports…) in women.
Burch surgery: Through laparoscopic surgery, the doctor uses non-absorbable medical thread to lift the bladder neck up, supporting the bladder to control urine better, avoiding urine leakage.
Vaginal augmentation: The doctor places a plastic or silicone ring-shaped device into the vagina.
Doctor Phuc Lien recommends that to stop urinary incontinence, women should see a doctor, determine the cause, and get appropriate treatment.
