`HSP is Taiwan’s effort to build a mainstream technology industry, train a high-quality technology workforce, and incubate the most important emerging companies,` said Chris Miller, author of
Most companies in HSP such as TSMC or UMC are major partners of Apple, Nvidia and Qualcomm.
`Without HSP, which provides all the infrastructure and land, a lot of tech companies might not exist today,` Morris Chang, founder of TSMC, said at the 40th anniversary celebration.
Semiconductor companies headquartered in HSP will have a total revenue of 363 billion USD in 2022. Meanwhile, Taiwan’s GDP is about 720 billion USD.

Chen started working in the semiconductor industry after earning his master’s degree in 1996, mostly at Lam Research, an American semiconductor manufacturing company.
According to Ms. Chen, the fact that many chip manufacturing companies are close together `is a kind of asset.`
